Calling Chef SW

We're finally getting Fall weather here in Albuquirky and I am going to make chili on Sunday night for the Bridge crew to warm up and watch some football. So, Chef SW, can you help a girl out and send me a good recipe? I know you have one. xoxo

This is cool

Toto, we're not in Albuquirky anymore...we're in Madrid!

MAD-rid, New Mexico, that is. This past weekend, Janel, Marc-E Marc and I all jumped in the Jag and hit the desert highway know as the Turquoise Trail for a little adventure. AFter a gorgeous drive through the mountains, we ended up in the former mining village turned hippie/hog-riding home of Mardid. The one road town is filled with art stores, motorcycles and a tavern that boasts the longest bar in the state. It was very cool. Dare I say it? New Mexico is growing on me (as a place to VISIT).

Marc-E in front of the Kickin' Ass Ranch

After a long walk down the only road in town, a stop at the local tavern was a must...

Someday is probably sooner than you think...

Hot Stuff, don't let someone who isn't worthy of you, waste your time or break your heart. You know what I'm talking about and the right one is out there waiting for you, so stop being there for the wrong one. xoxoxo

It's a good one...

Balloon Fiesta!

The Balloon Fiesta is the one (and I'm pretty sure only) worth while reason to visit Albuquirky. I've been meaning to post this for a while and just got so busy. But when M, KB and Grandma decided to come down to visit me and see the world's most photographed event, aka The 40th Annual Ballon Fiesta. You have to be on a bus at 5am and to be honest, once you've seen one hot air balloon, you've seen 'em all. I was wrong. It was amazing, beautiful, chilly but worth every minute. Here are a few photos from the day or you can go to http://kellywickstrom.kodakgallery.com/gallery/personal-url/albumView.jsp?albumId=4985175240103#p/8383895240103 and see them all! xo

(Grandma had to have her funnel cake...at 8:45 am)

Perfection

How perfectly beautiful is this 10 year old model/girl? Little Guy sent me these pics and could she be any more adorable or stylish. I hope I have a little girl just like this some day.

SONG OF THE DAY

Can't stop singing this song...

I wish I were an Oscar Meyer Wiener...

Look what rolled up to the Bridge last night. They would not give rides. Boo.

SONG OF THE DAY

Missing friends, family (and civilization) today...

In honor of my new niece...

I thought I would share a photo of my ridiculously adorable new niece, Duffy (apparently she only eats lying down like the little lady that she is)...

And in honor of the little sweetie, I wanted to share this site with all my dog lover friends. A little birdy (Janel) told me about it...it's called doggyloot and it's like groupon for pups!

Recreate

I MUST recreate this look that I saw on one of my favorite blogs. It's perfect for work/dinner/night out in Albuquirky (on the very rare occasion when it is necessary to wear anything fancier than my favorite H&M sweats, Uggs and jean jacket). I'm scouring my closet in my mind right now to see if I have all the elements. Hmmm, pair this with a pair of flat boots instead of the heels and it could be a super cute travel outfit (as in sitting with some Gluwein in Germany).

Thank goodness for iPods...

Does anyone else remember these PSA's from Saturday morning cartoons? So funny.

Men suck, sometimes...

For Hot Stuff. I can't wait for our days ahead in LaLa Land.
xoxoxoxoxo

Back in the day...

Jimmy B and I were laughing about when I worked as the production coordinator on this video and how scared I was. The good ol' days of the glam life of Hip Hop. Good stories....

Cheers!

Ok, I wish you could all be in NYC drinking beer at 9am, yelling at all the runners and celebrating with me after 26.2 miles but since you can't please go to http://www.supportyourmarathoner.com/welcome# (my runner # is 779779) and give me some support, tell me how happy you're not me on November 6th or let me know when/where we will celebrate. I need your cheers (even if theyr'e virtual)!

And here's the Asics Ad from last year's marathon. I LOVE IT and am thinking about getting it tattooed on my body (not seriously but it does give me serious motivation and chills).

xoxo

SONG OF THE DAY

Now, I was a huge NKOTB fan. HUGE. I actually thought that I was going to marry Joey McIntyre when I grew up. Then, years later, I sang along to the Backstreet Boys and sat 8th row at an 'Nsync concert with Meg (and loved every second of it). But I thought I was done with boy bands...until I recently discovered The Wanted. They're from the UK, have download worthy songs and are adorable. This is happening. I'm 15 again and loving it. Nathan is my fav!

Happy Sunday

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend as much as I did. Had an amazing dinner in Santa Fe to celebrate Marc-y Marc's birthday last night after a 10-miler. Woke up to another beautiful day and did my last 20-miler. Looking forward to this vision in three weeks.

(that was me crossing the NYC marathon finish line last year. I look much better than I felt)

(wide shot...really wondering why I'm doing this again, especially when my feet are banged up and blistered and my back hurts today. You all are going to need to provide some major encouragement on November 6th)

Came back to the Bridge to this sweet creature...

And now am enjoying some couch time and crossing my fingers that. Peterson and the Vikings actually pull out a win. That would make my Sunday.

Happy Sunday! Xoxo

Sweet 16

An old boss sent this to me a long time ago and I was searching for something in my inbox, I found it. I think it's worth a read.

1. Get and stay out of your comfort zone. Not much happens of any significance when we’re in our comfort zone. People say, “But I’m concerned about security.” The response to that is simple: “Security is for cadavers.”

2. Never give up. Almost nothing works the first time it’s attempted. Just because what you’re doing does not seem to be working, doesn’t mean it won’t work. It just means that it might not work the way you’re doing it. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it, and you wouldn’t have an opportunity.

3. When you’re ready to quit, you’re closer than you think. There’s an old Chinese saying that goes like this: “The temptation to quit will be greatest just before you are about to succeed.”

4. With regard to whatever worries you, not only accept the worst thing that could happen, but make it a point to quantify what the worst thing could be.Very seldom will the worst consequence be anywhere near as bad as a cloud of “undefined consequences.”

5. Focus on what you want to have happen. Remember that old saying, “As you think, so shall you be.”

6. Take things a day at a time. No matter how difficult your situation is, you can get through it if you don’t look too far into the future, and focus on the present moment. You can get through anything one day at a time.

7. Always be moving forward. Never stop investing. Never stop improving. Never stop doing something new. The moment you stop improving your organization, it starts to die. Make it your goal to be better each and every day, in some small way. Remember the Japanese concept of Kaizen. Small daily improvements eventually result in huge advantages.

8. Be quick to decide. Remember what the Union Civil War general, Tecumseh Sherman said: “A good plan violently executed today is far and away better than a perfect plan tomorrow.”

9. Measure everything of significance. I swear this is true. Anything that is measured and watched, improves.
10. Anything that is not managed will deteriorate. If you want to uncover problems you don’t know about, take a few moments and look closely at the areas you haven’t examined for a while. Your problems will be there.

11. Pay attention to your competitors, but pay more attention to what you’re doing. When you look at your competitors, remember that everything looks perfect at a distance. Even the planet Earth, if you get far enough into space, looks like a peaceful place.

12. Never let anybody push you around. In our society, with our laws and even playing field, you have just as much right to what you’re doing as anyone else, provided that what you’re doing is legal.

13. Never expect life to be fair. Life isn’t fair. You make your own breaks. You’ll be doing good if the only meaning fair has to you, is something that you pay when you get on a bus (i.e., fare).

14. Solve your own problems. You’ll find that by coming up with your own solutions, you’ll develop a competitive edge. Masura Ibuka, the co-founder of SONY, said it best: “You never succeed in technology, business, or anything by following the others.” There’s also an old Asian saying that goes like this: “A wise man keeps his own counsel.”

15. Don’t take yourself too seriously. Lighten up. Often, at least half of what we accomplish is due to luck. None of us are in control as much as we like to think we are.

16. There’s always a reason to smile. Find it. After all, you’re really lucky just to be alive. Life is short. More and more, I agree with my little brother. He always reminds me: “We’re not here for a long time; we’re here for a good time.”

SONG OF THE DAY

I heard this on my way to work today. Put me in a good mood. And this video reminds me of how great MTV was in the 80's.

Patiently waiting...

Young Adult

I saw "Ides of March" (which I recommend...but then again anything with Ryan Gosling can't be bad) and this was one of the trailers. I don't love Charlize but I am super excited to see this. Is it sad that part of me identifies with this crazy lady?

SONG OF THE DAY

Let me introduce you to my new boyfriend. He's the lead singer of Cobra Starship. His name is Gabe. I love him.

SONG OF THE DAY

For Meg. I wish we could be sitting at Daruma eating a ton of sushi, drinking bottles of wine and requesting songs...right now.
